Find answers to the most common questions about our therapy services and practice.

How much does a therapy appointment cost?

Session fees vary based on the provider and service:

  • Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC): $180 per session
  • Licensed Professional Counselor Associate: $80 per session
  • School Psychologist: $200 per session
  • Neurofeedback Session: $300

If you have questions about which service or provider is the best fit for your needs, feel free to contact us—we’re happy to help.

Should my child or teen come to the first visit?

No, the first visit is for parents or guardians only. This initial session is an important opportunity to review consents, discuss confidentiality, and share your child’s developmental history, milestones, and any current concerns. It also gives us a chance to better understand your goals for therapy and begin building a supportive foundation for your child’s care.

What is Play Therapy?

Play therapy is a specialized form of counseling that uses play, the natural language of children, to help them express thoughts and emotions. Through toys, art, and games, children can work through challenges like anxiety, trauma, behavioral issues, or life changes in a way that feels safe and age-appropriate.

A trained play therapist guides the process to help your child build emotional skills, develop healthy coping strategies, and grow in confidence all through play.

What do I bring to my first visit with the school psychologist?

If you’re coming for an IEP consultation with the school psychologist, please bring any relevant documents, such as your child’s IEP, psychological evaluation, or psychoeducational assessment. These materials help us better understand your child’s needs and provide more effective support.
If you’re unsure what to bring, feel free to contact us ahead of your appointment- We’re happy to assist you.

What should I tell my child about coming to see a therapist or the school psychologist?

It’s helpful to explain the visit in a calm and supportive way. You might say something like:

“The school psychologist is someone at school who helps kids with their feelings, like when they’re feeling worried, sad, or having a hard time. It’s a safe place to talk, and lots of kids visit it. They’re there to listen and help, kind of like a helper for your heart and mind.”

Framing the visit positively and letting your child know they’re not in trouble can ease any nervousness. Encourage them to ask questions and remind them that it’s okay to talk about their feelings.

Do you accept my insurance?

We currently accept Aetna insurance. If you’re not using Aetna, we also welcome self-pay clients and can provide a superbill upon request if you’d like to seek reimbursement through your out-of-network benefits. Many clients choose self-pay for the added privacy, flexibility, and control it offers in their care. If you have any questions about payment options or what might work best for your situation, we’re happy to walk you through it.

What is the cancellation policy?

If you need to cancel or reschedule, please provide at least 24 hours’ notice. Late cancellations or missed appointments may be subject to the full session fee.

What is your schedule of operation?

Hours of Operation
Monday through Friday: 10:00 AM – 6:00 PM

What is the Good Faith Estimate (No Surprises Act)?

Under the No Surprises Act, clients who are uninsured or not using insurance have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate outlining the expected cost of services. You’ll receive a written estimate of session fees before your first appointment, so you can make informed decisions about your care. If you have any questions about fees or billing, we’re always happy to discuss them with you.
